Making Sense of the Industry

Each year, CSI publishes Banking Priorities, a major piece of thought leadership built to help community and regional financial institutions understand what’s ahead. The goal is simple: take a wide range of perspectives, priorities, and challenges across the industry and turn them into something useful. Something bankers can actually reference as they plan for the year and think through how to better serve and protect their account holders.

At its core, this project is about clarity. The insights give our audience a way to see where they’re aligned with peers, where they may be ahead, and where they might need to adjust. It’s not meant to predict the future, but to help make sense of the present.

From Research to Real Insight

The data itself comes from an annual survey conducted by independent research firm CITE Research, with responses gathered from 252 community banking professionals at the manager level and above across the country. But the report doesn’t stop at raw data. Once the results are in, the real work begins.

Our team works closely with industry experts across the company, including leaders in product, strategy, compliance, and technology, to validate findings, pressure-test assumptions, and pull out the insights that matter most. It’s a deeply collaborative process, focused on accuracy and relevance, and making sure the story we tell reflects what’s actually happening in the market.

All of this happens on a tight timeline, often overlapping with the holidays, so the report can be released early in the year while the information is still fresh. It’s fast-paced, detail-heavy work, but it ensures our audience gets the most up-to-date perspective possible when they’re making decisions for the year ahead.

Evolving the Experience

Under my leadership, Banking Priorities has evolved well beyond a static report. What was once a gated PDF is now a fully interactive, dynamic digital experience that’s freely accessible to anyone who wants it. Removing the gate was intentional. The goal was to reduce friction, increase reach, and make the insights easier to explore, share, and return to over time.

This shift changed how the content is consumed and how it’s valued. Instead of a one-and-done download, Banking Priorities became a living resource and a clear expression of CSI’s role as a thoughtful, trusted voice in the industry. It’s one of the strongest examples of how collaboration, smart content strategy, and intentional experience design can turn data into something that truly serves the audience.
